NEGA Scouting / Learning Activities

 
Ranger Camp next opportunity is Sunday, June 21 Friday, June 26, 2015 at the U.S. Army Rangers Camp at Camp Frank D. Merrill near Dahlonega, GA.  Boys must be 14 years old or older (or 13 and completed the 8th grade) there are no exceptions to this requirement.  Boys do not need a leader or other adult for this week this camp is open to individual scouts and adults.  The fee is $285.00 boy or adult.  Participants must have a complete and current medical.  The fee includes the $75 registration fee, 2 olive drab work shirts, 1 Ranger Camp shirt, 1 camp patch, and your meals for the week.  Graduation is Friday, June 26, 2015.  This camp begins the day after the boys return from Camp Rainey Mountain.  This is considered a high adventure camp.  For more information, contact the camping department in Jefferson at 706/693-2446 or visit www.nega-bsa.org or www.nega-highadventure.org.
 
CPR/AED & Wilderness First Aid Training next opportunity is 7pm Friday, August 14 4pm Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Scoutland.  CPR & AED are now prerequisites for WFA.  Anyone age 14 and older may register for this course.  The fee is $95.00.  Meals will be provided.  Must bring camping gear camping will either be in staff cabins or campsites.  Uniform is not required.  There are just 30 slots and they fill up fast.  As a troop, we must have 2 trained individuals to offer hiking, backpacking, and some of the other trips we do.  By August 12, 2015 we will have just one trained adult as the others will expire.  Anyone interested should email Anna Hall at annakh@bellsouth.net or call her at 770/995-1801.  This course is also available in other venues approved by BSA but not at this low price.  This course is being registered for out of the Lawrenceville Office.  This training is valid for 2 years.
